Swasthya Samruddhi

This programme was carried out as the second phase of the Jeevan Suraksha Programme for the period 2003-2005 in partnership with Government of Gujarat and UNFPA.

The second phase was designed to scale up to an expanded area especially in the rural areas with a focus on reduction of maternal and child morbidity and mortality.

The key areas of focus of the programme were:

  • Focus on safety during delivery
  • Enhance knowledge of and access to contraception among both, women and men of reproductive age groups.
  • Improve detection and treatment of problems regarding reproductive health especially Reproductive Tract Infections and HIV/AIDS.
  • Increase awareness of reproductive health issues among adolescents and ensure that health service is available for adolescents through local providers.
